Herman Leonardt

Herman Leonhardt lived deep in the swamp on the Edisto River, Branchville, S.C. where he worked as a self-taught glassblower more than 20 years, influenced by the freedom, color, contrast, wildlife and abundant beauty of his surroundings.

Leonhardt said, "Nature has always been the biggest influence on my work; the freedom, color, and contrast is always with me. ... Working in my shop on the Edisto River bank allows a view of the abundant wildlife and the beauty of nature even as I work. ... I hope to add color and beauty to many people's lives." The artist did just that up until the time of his death in 2011.

Ellis-Nicholson is honored to have been selected by Hermans daughter, Karen to represent the estate in the sale of his glass. For information on other pieces that are available please contact the gallery.
